ONE OF THESE DAYS IT WILL BE TOO LATE
Today is the day of salvation, 2nd Corinthians 6:2, “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” John 1:32-34, “And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” John 3:3, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Acts 2:38, “Repent, and be baptized everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
This was almost two thousand years ago. This promise has an expiration day. That is why the Lord said, “Now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation.” One of these days, the time will expire the day will be gone and it would be too late for salvation. It is very close. Luke 21:36, “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
But many have taken the mercy and admonitions of God for granted; and God is seeing it today, the day of salvation. In Matt. 24:33, “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things (signs), know that it is near (the translation), even at the door.” Like wise 2nd Peter 3:4, “And saying, where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” Why do men think about God’s plan that way? They forget that verse 9 states that, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promises, (John 14:3, And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto my self; that where I am, there ye may be also), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
Mark 13:31, “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my word shall not pass away.” Many take the word of God and his promises for granted, as indicated in 2nd Peter 3:5-7, “For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heaven were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water. Where by the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
What makes a man to say that God’s word has not come to pass; for since the fathers slept all things remain the same. They have taken God for granted. But 2nd Peter 3:2, “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, (mockers) walking after their own lusts.” 2nd Timothy 3:1-10 tells us a lot; such as perilous times like we see today, men ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Some have a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, from such turn away. Many are without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, and unholy. Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. They creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with diverse lusts. Luke 21:34, “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your heart be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unaware.” Then you begin to search for the accepted time and the day of salvation, but alas it was to late. But Luke 21:19, admonishes us , “In your patience possess ye your souls.” Don’t say since the fathers slept all things remain the same.
